A building safety inspection has delayed opening day for the 7-Eleven located at 918 E. Grand River Ave.

The location below The Hub On Campus East Lansing was scheduled to open on Jan. 30. However, the store is now expected to open on Feb. 13, according to flyers that were posted on the storefront on Jan. 31.

The Hub's community manager, Travis Hotz said in an email that they followed up with the owner a week before the original opening date and the owner said the opening date is yet to be confirmed.

Mikell Frey, communications coordinator for the city of East Lansing, disclosed through email on Feb. 3 that "there were some outstanding items from a building safety inspection standpoint that the owners needed to address prior to receiving their certificate of occupancy."

The building inspectors returned on Feb. 4 to re-inspect the outstanding items to ensure the building was safe for occupancy.

According to Frey, Scott Weaver, the building and code administrator, said the inspection went well and the final certificate of occupancy was issued the same day.
