The City of East Lansing is holding an autumn-themed farmers market this Sunday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Valley Court Park.

“It’s a special event we have each year and it is pretty much to celebrate autumn,” Market Manager Karla Forrest-Hewitt said. “Its normally during the last month of the market for harvest time and autumn celebration, and we have additional activities that we don’t have at the usual market.”

The farmers market will feature an assortment of seasonal produce and products and an array of fall themed children’s activities.

“We have horse and carriage rides, we have face painting, a selfie booth that you can take pictures at, Parks and Recreation will be there having a wheel throwing demonstration, The School of Rock will be there with their instrument petting zoo, we have volunteers who will be helping pass out free cider and donut holes,” Forrest-Hewitt said. “All the activities are free and then we have our vendors at the market.”

The East Lansing Public Library will be there assisting with the different children’s activities. A generous sponsor of the event, the School of Rock will provide an instrument petting zoo.

Live music will also be provided, with Dan Dan Laird from 10 a.m. until noon and Sue Garber from noon until 2 p.m. Community members are invited to attend the autumn fest and purchase farm-grown Michigan produce.
