"We're launching this week," Caroline Passe, the Director of Public Relations for South Carolina-based Gotcha said in an e-mail to The State News. "The exact date is still TBD. We’re doing some testing with the app and scooters in-market first before they officially roll-out."

The license from the city of East Lansing was officially approved last week after an exclusivity agreement was signed in August.

"They can deploy at their pleasure at this point as long as they follow the rules that are in place," Tom Fehrenbach, assistant to the East Lansing city manager, said. "I expect that if they're not out there today, they should be out there very soon."

Fehrenbach said he had not communicated with Gotcha since last week.
