Michigan State's Hannah Administration Building has been evacuated due to a bomb threat that was reported near the building, according to MSU and MSU Police officials.

The administration building was evacuated just after 11 a.m. Friday following a bomb threat made via phone call, MSUPD Capt. Doug Monette confirmed.

"At 10:45 a.m. this morning, we received information about a bomb in the administration building," Monette said. "We responded appropriately, the building has been evacuated, we have put the appropriate resources in place. At this time, we have not found any suspicious packages, however, we are continuing with the evacuation and the investigation."

MSUPD is following up on the investigation, and no additional details about the threat can be confirmed at this time.

MSU spokesperson Emily Guerrant confirmed the administration building evacuation was tied to the bomb threat.

MSU alerts have been sent out to students, faculty and staff, she said.

Although authorities have said they've found no suspicious packages in the building, community members are asked to stay at least 500 feet away from the Hannah Administration Building and report any unattended packages, suspicious activity or persons to MSUPD.

"We take all these threats very seriously," Monette said. "Right now, we're following up on the investigation."

MSUPD sent another alert at 12:37 p.m. Friday regarding the incident and reported that although the investigation is ongoing, occupants of the Hannah Administration Building can return and resume normal operations.
