Residential and Hospitality Services, or RHS, and Michigan State Athletics will be hosting the 12th annual Help Tackle Hunger Food Drive. The food drive directly supports the MSU Student Food Bank and will take place from now until April 13, according to a press release.
“Unfortunately, hunger does exist within the MSU community, and it’s difficult for any student to excel academically when they come to school hungry,” Vice President for Auxiliary Enterprises Vennie Gore said in the release. “The MSU Food Bank is often a critical line of defense for many students in need. Our goal with the Help Tackle Hunger food drive is to help replenish inventories at the MSU Student Food Bank by raising donations for the cause.”
There will be food collection locations at the entrances of Spartan Stadium during the April 13 spring home football game, the release said.
The Drive will accept monetary donations from now through April 13 at any Sparty’s location, any Starbucks campus locations, the Sparty’s Market at 1855 Place, all quick service restaurants at the MSU Union Food Court and at concession stands at the April 13 game.
“For many years, the MSU Student Food Bank has helped support members of our community in need,” Associate Director of Retail Food Services Bill Kost said in the press release. “The food bank distributes more than 50,000 pounds of food to more than 4,700 students annually in large part due to charitable donations.”
