The third panel of the “Finding our Voices: Sister Survivors Speak” spring speaker series will be held on Feb. 20.
This speaker series is jointly sponsored by the MSU Museum and The Army of Survivors, a survivor-ally network. Its third iteration will be held at 6 p.m. at the MSU Detroit Center. The discussion topic is “Resisting Sexual Violence through a Racial Justice Lens: Toward Inclusive Transformation.”
Speakers include Amanda Thomashow, who in 2014 became the first to file a Title IX complaint about Larry Nassar. She will speak on behalf of the Michigan Public Health Institute. Other guests include Tamara Butler from MSU’s Department of English and Danielle McGuire from Wayne State University.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy and Arianna Castillo, a member of The Army of Survivors, will also speak. Melanie Jacobs of MSU’s College of Law will moderate the discussion.
The five-panel spring speaker series leads up to the opening of the “Finding our Voices: Sister Survivors Speak” MSU Museum exhibit, created in conjunction by museum curators, survivors and their allies. That exhibit opens April 16 and runs until March 2020.
Additional speaker series dates are set for March 12 and April 23.
