Michigan State's first Filmetry Festival will take place Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities (RCAH) Theater in Snyder Hall.

The festival, organized by the Center for Poetry, the Film Studies Program, and the Department of English, will be held in RCAH and premier over a dozen "cinepoems" — cinematic interpretations of poems.

The 15 participating filmmakers were paired with local poets, who supplied five different pieces for the filmmaker to choose from and interpret. The adaptations are three to five minutes long, and the entirety of the poem must appear in the film in some way, whether it is spoken or appears as on-screen text.

The event is free and open to the public.
