Slotkin defeats Bishop, flips 8th Congressional District blue

November 7, 2018

Democratic challenger Elissa Slotkin won the race for Michigan's 8th Congressional District. Slotkin won Ingham County with 64,859 total votes and 66.61 percent of the vote.

“This campaign team turned an unwinnable race into a victory,” Slotkin said at her watch party.

Her win over incumbent U.S. Rep. Mike Bishop, R-Michigan, in the contested district flips the seat into Democratic hands.

“I just got off the phone with Elissa Slotkin and just wished her well," Bishop said. "I let her know that I want to work with her through the transition period.”
