The Michigan House of Representatives has given MSU two weeks to provide records related to the ex-MSU and USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar case.

A letter sent Thursday to MSU's general counsel from state representatives Klint Kesto (R - Commerce Township) and Kim LaSata (R - Bainbridge Township), the chairs of the House Law and Justice Committee, requests the un-redacted documents by 5 p.m. on Feb. 9.

The letter was first published by the Lansing State Journal.

The letter specifically requests reports initiated, completed or issued by MSU related to Nassar in 2014 through 2017, including the Office of Institutional Equity’s Final Investigative Report regarding Amanda Thomashow, a report completed by the MSU Police Department in 2015, and the OIE’s Final Investigative report regarding Rachael Denhollander.

“It is our sincere hope that the University will cooperate with our request and inquiries without the need to employ means of compulsion,” the letter reads, adding the House Law and Justice Committee is authorized to subpoena records from any state institution.

The letter also adds that any related material deemed confidential by law may be disclosed to the committee without breaching that confidentiality.

MSU spokesperson Jason Cody could not be reached for comment at the time of publication.
