More than 100 witnesses were questioned by MSU police in the investigation into sexual assault allegations against three MSU football players, according to new information found in the investigation's police report. The report was obtained by MLive through a Freedom of Information Act request.
While the 288-page report is heavily redacted, the report does show MSU police spoke with 106 witnesses, according to MLive.
These witnesses included MSU football's coaching staff, at least 13 MSU football players, at least seven MSU basketball players, MSU women's basketball players, residents of University Village, students at the party where the alleged sexual assault occurred and an Uber driver.
Ex-MSU football players Joshua King, Donnie Corley and Demetric Vance have been connected with an alleged sexual assault incident that took place Jan. 16 at a party in University Village, according to a previous State News article.
On June 5, the Ingham County Prosecutor authorized sexual assault charges against the three. The next day, 54-B District Court Judge Richard Ball issued warrants for the arrest of King, Corley and Vance.
"The MSUPD's sexual assault investigation involving three former football players was diligent and exhaustive," MSU spokesperson Jason Cody said via text message. "As the police report shows, our detectives and officers pursued every lead available during their investigation."
MSU police could not be reached for comment at the time of publication.
