East Lansing police are actively investigating the case, although they have yet to determine the exact location of the attack, according to an ELPD statement.
The Detective Bureau has made contact with a number of individuals in the area and are investigating a number of tips.
ELPD noted there is no connection between this sexual assault and any other previously reported sexual assault.

The East Lansing Police Department was dispatched to the 900 block of Northlawn Avenue on a report of a sexual assault early Oct. 21, according to an ELPD statement.
The victim, a 31-year-old female told police she was walking home to her apartment when she was attacked from behind, pulled into the woods near the Saginaw-Harrison intersection and sexually assaulted.
Afterwards she made contact with a resident of the 900 block who called 911.
She described the suspect as a 30 to 40-year-old man, approximately six feet tall. She said he was muscular with no facial hair, wearing jeans and an unknown colored T-Shirt at the time of the attack.
The victim said no weapon was used in the attack.
ELPD's Detective Bureau is investigating the attack and anyone with information is asked to contact ELPD Det. Chris Shadduck at (517) 319-6842
East Lansing Police reported a sexual assault which occurred near Harrison Road and Northlawn Street. The suspect is a white male, around 6 feet tall with a scruffy face, and indicated he had a weapon. Police are asking anyone who spots a potential suspect to call 911.
