Following Saturday’s 52-26 victory against Big Ten rival Indiana, the No. 6 Spartans' starting quarterback Connor Cook has been named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of The Week.

Cook had a huge game against the Hoosiers, setting many career highs and even broke a couple of school records.

Cook had career-highs in passing yards (398), pass completions (30), pass attempts (52), and tied his career best with four touchdown passes. Cook’s 398 passing yards was only two yards short of setting a school record, previously set by Bill Burke (400 passing yards) in 1999 against University of Michigan.

Cook also set a school record with 416 yards of total offense. With 398 passing yards on the day, Cook became the third quarterback in MSU history to pass for over 8,000 career yards, and is now third all-time on MSU’s career chart for total offensive yards with 8,349.

"Connor Cook played very well against Indiana and made plays with both his feet and arm," MSU quarterbacks coach Brad Salem said in a media release. "He's been very consistent the last couple of weeks. Connor located the ball very well and had very good pocket presence. He was very patient with his reads and had a very good vision of the coverages on Saturday. His quick decisions and accuracy made a difference."

Saturday marked Cook’s third straight and ninth career 300 yard-passing game. Cook also completed passes to seven different receivers, and has thrown at least one touchdown in 11 straight games.

MSU’s win against Indiana improves Cook’s career record to 31-3 as starting quarterback, including a 20-1 record against Big Ten opponents. His .912 winning percentage ranks first among all active quarterback in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision.

Cook also ranks among Big Ten leaders in total touchdown passes (first with 17), passing (second with 258.8 yards per game) and third in passing efficiency (146.5 passer-rating).

This honor is Cook’s first Big Ten honor in his collegiate career.

No. 6 MSU will regroup and take a bye week before returning to work when they travel out to Lincoln to play Nebraska on Nov. 7.
