Week in Review: September 25, 2015

September 25, 2015

The week in review for Sept. 25, 2015.

Here are the top stories for the week of Sept. 25.

Controversy was raised earlier this week after changes were announced to the Izzone ticketing system. The State News ran an editorial saying the changes would discourage attendance and afterwards a rebuttal column was published.

Students will now have to pay a membership fee to purchase tickets, with a price raise totaling about $45, which was looked at as a bad deal.

However, if the price of each ticket is compared to the number of games, the price per game actually decreases.

Results of a survey, directed by the Association of American Universities, or AAU, and developed by a social science research firm were released Monday morning, shedding light on both local and national perceptions of sexual assault on campuses.

One of its most notable revelations was that one in four women reported being sexually assaulted on campus.

Ever wonder about the skateboarding professor? The State News spoke to media and information professor Rabindra Ratan who knows that in a big lecture, students get distracted and fall asleep, prompting him to adopt the skateboard.

“It’s fun,” Ratan said. “It keeps their attention and it keeps me from getting bored too. The students watch me to make sure they don’t miss when I fall.”
