The Breslin Student Events Center will host a memorial service for fallen firefighter Dennis Rodeman on Wednesday at 10 a.m., according to the City of Lansing.

Doors will open at 8:45 a.m. and the Lansing State Journal is reporting that thousands are expected to attend.

Shortly thereafter, a funeral procession will begin at the corner of Kalamazoo Street and Harrison Road at noon and will travel to West Carmel Cemetery in Charlotte.

Rodeman was allegedly struck by former MSU student Grant Jacob Taylor on Sept. 9 while collecting for charity. After an alleged argument between the two, Taylor drove off, turned around and allegedly hit Rodeman with his vehicle.

A $100,000 fundraising goal for Rodeman's family was created by the City of Lansing on GoFundMe after Rodeman's death and the goal was quickly met. About $137,000 has been raised as of Tuesday afternoon.
