Gary Peters has won incumbent Carl Levin's U.S. Senate seat.
“We are very excited to see that Gary Peters has won and look forward to working with him as we move forward,” Incumbent state Rep. Sam Singh, D-East Lansing, said following the fellow democrat’s election to the U.S. Senate. Singh, a MSU alumnus, was re-elected into his seat on Michigan’s 69th House District.
Peter’s speech following his win focused on the issues, including leveling out the gender pay gap, funding education, and climate change. During his speech, Peters advocated for raising the minimum wage, and said “everybody who works hard and plays by the rules should be able to get their piece of the American dream.”
Peters also said he was going to reach for bi-partisanship as much as possible.
“The only way we are going to really deal with the very tough problems we face here in Michigan as well as around the country is we got to find bipartisan common ground,” Peters said. “I’ll be working to do that regardless of what the results are tonight.”
