For MSU junior quarterback Connor Cook , the Hoosier state has more of a connection than just being the enemy on Saturday.
When No. 8 MSU (5-1 overall, 2-0 Big Ten) goes down to Indiana (3-3 overall, 0-2 Big Ten) on Saturday, one member of the Cook family will have a hard time choosing who to root for.
Cook's father, Chris Cook, was a three-time letter winner as a tight end for Indiana from 1982-1984 . Cook said yesterday his father's allegiances could be tested when the Hoosiers and the Spartans play.
"Obviously (he's rooting for) Indiana," Cook joked. "Obviously he's rooting for Michigan State. He has some good buddies who he still talks to at Indiana, but he's obviously going to root for his kids."
Cook's sister played basketball at Old Dominion, and he said when Indiana and Old Dominion faced off his father left his Hoosier apparel at home.
"I think what he is looking forward to the most is the tailgates at Indiana," Cook said. "A bunch of the guys that he went to high school with have friends at Indiana and he still talks to a bunch of his high school friends."
