The MSU Department of Theatre is preparing for a season of productions from Shakespeare to "Hair: The American Tribal-Love Rock Musical." For the 2014-2015 season, their productions will share one common link — the dynamics of power in political, personal and generational settings.
Here are the productions the MSU Department of Theatre will be performing for their 2014-2015 show season.
"Project 60/50" September 18-28
The play "Project 60/50" will delve into MSU's involvement with human and civil rights. This will be the world premiere of the play, and it was written in conjunction with Project 60/50 during the 2013-2014 school year, which commemorated the Civil Rights Act and Brown vs Board of Education ruling.
"Carrie the Musical" October 10-19
"Carrie the Musical" is based off the novel "Carrie" by Stephen King. Carrie White is a misfit trying to find acceptance in her small-town high school and fighting between her religious household and awakening sexuality, when she discovers she has special and dangerous powers.
Haunted AuditoriumOctober 29-31
Just in time for Halloween, the MSU Department of Theatre's Haunted Auditorium will return to campus. Funds raised from the event will go to students' initiatives.
"Freshman Showcase: Power Plays"November 6-9
"Power Plays" is an performance for the upcoming power players in the MSU Department of Theatre to shine. Scenes new and old of different power struggles will be performed throughout the performances by the newest batch of student actors, designers and stage managers.
"Les Liaisons Dangereuses"November 14-23
This play, set in France during 1780, explores the scandal behind French high society through conniving sexual games with witty characters.
Theatre2Film ProjectJanuary 30- February 8
This show was developed by students and is set to be performed both as a theatrical piece and be filmed. Audience get to witness this experiment highlighting the difference between performance and cinema.
"Macbeth"February 20 - March 1
Known as one of William Shakespeare's most tragic plays, this play delves into the world of politics, power and witchcraft.
"Sirens"March 26 - April 26
A Williamston Theatre Collaboration, this romantic comedy shows a couple trying to re-ignite the spark of their failing marriage.
"Chess in Concert"March 27-28
This concert will not only feature MSU talent — Broadway performers will also take the stage during the performances at the Wharton Center.

"Strange Interlude"March 26 - April 1
The Pulitzer Prize-winning play is a comedy that works through the inner minds of several characters, all through the eyes of Nina Leed as she contemplates the different men in her life.
"Hair: The American Tribal-Love Rock Musical"April 14-26
"Hair" is coming to MSU with its score of pop/rock hits. The powerful musical tells the story of the "tribe," a group of long-haired hippies living in New York City.
