MSU student sentenced to 45 days in jail for involvement in Cedar Village disturbance

February 24, 2014

A 20-year-old MSU student has been sentenced to 45 days in jail following his involvement in the post Big Ten championship game civil disturbance in Cedar Village.

Justin Paul Roe was arrested and arraigned on Dec. 13 2013, on three charges — kindling a fire, unlawful assembly and remaining within 300 feet of a fire. Roe will serve his time in the Ingham County jail.

The sentence was part of a plea agreement that would allow Roe to serve instead of facing a year probation from MSU or any other public Michigan college.

Roe is the first student to face jail time that was involved in the civil disturbance.
