St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra
Monday, Feb. 24
The St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing at the Wharton Center for the first time on Monday. With their stunning string, bass and wind combination, their Wharton debut will include Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2 and Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2.
Tickets are $15 for MSU students. Prices range from $27, $42, $57 and $77 for the public. The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Wharton Center’s Cobb Great Hall.
Trucker Hat Craft Night
Wednesday, Feb. 26
For a leisurely break in the middle of the week, students can retreat over to the Union for a craft night. The University Activities Board will once again be hosting a Trucker Hat Craft Night, which is being brought back by popular demand.
Students can gather in Room 50 in the Union to decorate a hat for their spring break trip or in honor of the approaching St. Patrick’s Day. The event is free while supplies last for all MSU students plus one guest and all must show I.D.
Will and Company: 50 Years On
Thursday, Feb. 27
The University Activities Board partnered with the Black Student Alliance to present the play, “Will and Company: 50 Years On.” The play is being put on in honor of Black History Month and addresses various issues in social justice from the past all the way to issues faced today.
The event is going to be held in the Union ballroom. It is free for MSU students plus one guest and both must show their I.D.
Trisha Yearwood
Thursday, Feb. 27
Country superstar Trisha Yearwood will be performing at the Wharton Center’s Cobb Great Hall on Thursday night. She is known as one of the highest-selling female artists in the industry and has recorded 12 albums with nine No. 1 hits and 20 top-10 singles such as “Walkaway Joe” and “How Do I Live.”
Since she started performing in 1991, Yearwood has earned three Grammy Awards, three Country Music Awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards and is a member of the Grand Ole Opry. She will be accompanied by special guest Karyn Rochelle.
Her performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. and is expected to run for about two hours. Admission prices range from $27, $47 and $57 depending on seating.
