Weekend will bring a variety of performances

This weekend will provide more theater-oriented events for students to attend and will be packed with a variety of different performances. Here are some events for those eager to watch the curtains draw and the spotlight shine down in the theater this weekend.

Stuart Pimsler – Dance & Theater

The nationally-known Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater company will be performing in the Pasant Theatre at Wharton Center. The group is known for their gripping performances that are politically and socially relevant to the company’s past 35 years of experience. The performance is recommended for those ages 16 and older because of strong language. Tickets are on sale now and cost $15 for students and $37 for the public.

7:30 p.m. on Thursday

Peter and the Starcatcher

Learn the story of how Peter Pan came to be and explore how the previously orphaned boy found his way to the magical world of Neverland. Peter and the Starcatcher will be playing in Cobb Great Hall at the Wharton Center throughout the weekend. The comedy musical is based off the book series by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson and is recommended for family audiences. Tickets are available at $25 for students and start at $27 for the public.

7:30 p.m. on Thursday, 7:30 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday

The Second City Touring Company and the Happily Ever Laughter Tour

Doors open at 8:30 p.m. at the Pasant Theatre in the Wharton Center for Happily Ever Laughter and more than two hours of improv and sketch comedy. Tickets are $7 for students with two tickets available per student and $17 for the public to attend.

9 p.m. on Friday

The International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella

Watch MSU’s own a cappella teams face off with others from around the Great Lakes region at the Pasant Theatre in the Wharton Center. The event is presented by Varsity Vocals and hosted by the MSU Acafellas. Teams who will be performing include Capital Green, Ladies First, MSU Acafellas, RCAHpella and State of Fifths. Tickets are $15 for students and $20 for the public with a $3 facility charge.

7 p.m. on Saturday

FX’s The League LIVE!

Presented by the Residence Halls Association, The League LIVE! is based off the FX series and follows a group of friends through their misadventures in a fantasy football league. The comedy will be playing in the Wharton Center Great Hall and features a cast of comedy and Internet sensations. Tickets are $17 for students and $27 for the public.
