Weather advisory issued for Thursday

January 29, 2014

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for snow and blowing snow, effective from 4 a.m. Thursday until 1 a.m. Friday.

Inclement weather will start Thursday morning with 15 to 30 miles per hour winds and possible gusts of more than 40 miles per hour.

These winds could persist into Thursday, blowing and drifting snow.

Starting Thursday afternoon and continuing into the evening, one to two inches of snowfall is expected.

The advisory warns of limited visibility and near-whiteout conditions caused by the blowing and drifting snow.

It also warns of slippery spots on roadways from snow.

The National Weather Service suggests preparing for delayed travel conditions while the advisory is in effect.

Fresh snowfall on Thursday afternoon is expected to exacerbate the blowing snow.
