The junior forward scored the game-winning goal in double overtime to help the Spartans (11-9 overall, 4-2 Big Ten) defeat Ohio State, 2-1, and progress to the championship round of the Big Ten Tournament.

The junior forward scored the game-winning goal in double overtime to help the Spartans (11-9 overall, 4-2 Big Ten) defeat Ohio State, 2-1, and progress to the championship round of the Big Ten Tournament.
Jamieson and Ahern attempted the first two shots of the second overtime, but couldn’t reach the back of the net. After multiple attempts, Ahern finally hit the game winner after 91 minutes by a deflection in the midst of a scramble in front of the goal. It was her 11th of the season.
The Spartans will play Iowa in the finals on Saturday at 12 p.m.
Senior midfielder Katherine Jamieson also scored a goal for MSU. Junior back Jenni Smith added an assist and senior goalkeeper Molly Cassidy had eight saves.
Both teams went scoreless in the first half. Junior midfielder Becky Stiles had a shot go wide 7:48 into the game, and Buckeye Kaitlyn Wagner had a penalty stroke saved by Cassidy.
Jenni Smith had a shot blocked roughly 26 minutes into the match. OSU got its first shot off by Peanut Johnson 31 minutes into the first half, but it also went wide.
Ahern fired off her first shot after 32 minutes, but it was saved by OSU goalie Sarah Lemieux, who finished with eight saves for the game. OSU attempted two more shots before the conclusion of the first half, but neither found the back of the net.
Jamieson got things rolling for MSU with a goal 40 minutes into the match to start off the second half. The Buckeyes had two shot attempts in the next few minutes stopped.
Mora Frommhold later tied the game, 1-1, with a penalty corner assisted by Nina Laudahn and Maria Swartz.
Both teams called consecutive timeouts to attempt a game-winner. Frommhold got a shot off with two minutes remaining, but it went wide, leading to overtime.
OSU came out strong in the first overtime, attempting four shots before MSU could attempt one. MSU took control from there, attempting a whopping 10. Ahern had four of the attempts. However, neither side could convert.
On Sunday, MSU can secure a bid to the NCAA Tournament with a win over Iowa. The match is scheduled to start at noon.
