A 22-year-old East Lansing resident soon will face a pretrial conference for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend, an MSU student.
Samuel Roberts was arrested in the early morning hours of Oct. 19 and arraigned Oct. 21, according to court documents. He is charged with committing unlawful imprisonment, assault with a dangerous weapon, interference with electronic communication and domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend.
Roberts was assigned a cash surety bond of $15,000. His pretrial will be held Oct. 29, followed by a preliminary exam on Nov. 1.
The two were together at Roberts’ apartment at 311 W. Grand River Ave. when they began arguing.
Roberts allegedly threatened the victim with a knife, keeping her in the apartment against her will.
East Lansing police Capt. Jeff Murphy confirmed the victim is an MSU student, but was unsure whether Roberts attends MSU. MSU’s student and faculty search database lists both parties as students.
