Wide receiver A.J. Troup to miss season due to knee surgery

July 23, 2013

Sophomore wide receiver A.J. Troup will miss the season after undergoing knee surgery today.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound receiver announced the surgery on Twitter, and associate athletics director John Lewandowski confirmed that the surgery is injury-related.

Troup made a name for himself in the Green-White spring game in April when senior quarterback Andrew Maxwell found him for a game-tying 46-yard touchdown with 6:11 to play in the fourth quarter.

Troup was redshirted for the 2011 season due to a knee injury, and did not play as a redshirt freshman during the 2012 season.

The loss of Troup is a blow to the MSU offense, which struggled to complete passes late in games and looked at Troup as a potential contributor for the upcoming season.
