Rumors of shooting at Wilson Hall proven untrue by MSU Police

UPDATE: The false reports regarding a shooting on campus today were sent out on accident by MSU Police, according to MSU spokesperson Jason Cody.

The message was inadvertently sent out while MSU Police were sending out a notification about the severe weather. It was some kind of glitch, Cody said.

MSU Police have sent out a new alert via text message letting people know that there was no shooting on campus today.

There were rumors of a shooting at Wilson Hall at about 6 p.m. today, but according to the MSU Police Department these rumors are a “false alarm.”

Cadet Dowdell with the MSU Police Department said that there is no shooter on campus, the message was erroneously sent out.

Many students took to Twitter Tuesday afternoon saying they had received a warning email from MSU about a shooting incident at the hall. The MSU Police Department said to ignore this report.
