During a soccer match, a 24-year-old male suspect allegedly punched a 22-year-old male student in the back of the head between about 11:30 p.m. Jan. 31 and 12:20 a.m. Feb. 1 at Demonstration Hall, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.
The suspect said one of his friends was arguing with the 22-year-old.
He said he thought the student was going to hit his friend, so he struck him first.
East Lansing paramedics responded, but the victim refused transport to the hospital. He declined to press charges.
