Medical technician junior Amber Suttorp gets a snow cone in April 2012 at Sparty’s Spring Party held at the International Center, 427 North Shaw Lane. ASMSU, MSU’s undergraduate student government, will vote on whether to allocate $2,000 to help fund the 2013 party.

ASMSU, MSU’s undergraduate student government, finance committee passed a bill Thursday to become a co-sponsor for this year’s Sparty’s Spring Party. The bill will allocate up to $2,000 to ASMSU for the event.

The bill will be voted on this week at the general assembly meeting Thursday, with each ASMSU general assembly member having a say on the matter.

“I think it would be great for ASMSU to be a co-sponsor again; we’ve co-sponsored it in years before and it shows we work well and collaborate with other big organizations on campus,” College of Communication Arts and Sciences representative Sarah Stachura said at last week’s ASMSU meeting. “This can help spread our name to other people.”

This year’s event will be coordinated by the University Activities Board, with many other student organizations contributing, such as the Residence Halls Association and Student Alumni Foundation.

According to the ASMSU bill, the event will take place sometime in April.

This year’s events have not been posted yet, but last year there were games and activities such as Inflatable Twister, a caricature artist, glitter airbrush tattoos, photo booth and photo key chains, as well as entertainment performances.

ASMSU’s donation might be spent on entertainment at the event, such as bringing in a disc jockey, or UAB could use it to purchase equipment for the event, ASMSU Director of Public Relations Haley Dunnigan said.
