Reported intruder spotted in Yakeley dorm room

January 29, 2013

An unknown person reportedly was in the room of two sleeping MSU students in Yakeley Hall on Saturday morning, MSU police said.

Two female students were sleeping in their Yakeley Hall dorm room at about 4:20 a.m. when the 19-year-old roommate said she noticed someone next to their door, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

After waking her 18-year-old roommate, the two said “Hello” but heard no response, McGlothian-Taylor said. One of the roommates saw the room door open from the inside and an unknown individual walked out, prompting a scream from one of the women.

A 19-year-old student heard the scream and witnessed a suspicious man walking down the hallway, McGlothian-Taylor said. After asking the him to wait, the witness went to check on the cause of the scream. When the witness returned, the individual had left.

McGlothian-Taylor said no one was injured, and nothing was reported missing from the room.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-9-inch white male with slicked back, black hair. He was last seen wearing a puffy coat and carrying a backpack.
