A 14-2 spurt to open the second half was too much for the No. 13 MSU men’s basketball team (5-2) as they fell to Miami (4-1) 67-59, Wednesday night in Coral Gables, Fla.
The Hurricanes were led by the potent trio of guards Trey McKinney Jones, Durand Scott and Shane Larkin, who combined for 48 of the team’s 67 points.
Returning to action for the first time in over a week, guards Gary Harris and Travis Trice looked comfortable for MSU, coming off the bench to combine for 21 points on 8-for-17 shooting.
MSU was led by junior guard Keith Appling, who finished with 15 points and six rebounds, with sophomore guard Branden Dawson adding 11 points and four rebounds.
