Rock For Hunger comes to The Loft

November 4, 2012

With the season of giving right around the corner, The Loft, 414 E. Michigan Ave., is getting into the holiday spirit.

At 6 p.m. on Thursday, The Loft will host Kings of Rock Entertainment’s Rock For Hunger, a concert that presents the opportunity for guests to donate $5 and five cans of food at the door.

Those who participate in the charity will be given a wristband to take part in an exclusive meet and greet with the headliner of the show: Hawthorne Heights.

Originally from Dayton, Ohio, Hawthorne Heights got its start in 2001. In 2006, its second album, “If Only You Were Lonely,” was No. 1 on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart.

In 2010, the group released its fourth studio album, which reached No. 50 on the Billboard 200. Since that time, Hawthorne Heights has begun its own record company called Cardboard Empire, and the members are currently in the middle of their EP trilogy release, with one remaining.

Although Hawthorne Heights is leading the show, also appearing is Absinthe Junk, Red Cedar Riot, Black Oxygen, Catalina Wine Mixer and Basement Shark Attack.

Tickets for the show are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. All proceeds of the event go to the Jackson Interfaith Shelter.
