Trumpeter Terrell Stafford and his jazz quintet will perform as a part of the MSU College of Music at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cook Recital Hall. Alongside Stafford in his quintet will be tenor saxophonist Tim Warfield Jr., pianist Bruce Barth, bassist Rodney Whitaker and drummer Dana Hall.

Stafford has played the trumpet for more than 30 years, recorded as the leader in six albums and has been nominated for a Grammy Award. He also has performed on more than 90 albums as a sideman. Aside from being a trumpeter, Stafford also has a well-recognized career in education, working as a faculty member at the Juilliard Institute for Jazz Studies in New York and currently is the director of jazz studies and chair of instrumental studies at Temple University in Philadelphia.
