“I’ve always had a thing for music, but I’m not musically inclined, so I found a different way,” Weinstein said. “I made contact with a band, and they asked me to get them into East Lansing, and I just kind of thought it through. I realized I could do that.”

Weinstein focuses on helping unsigned bands get into venues in the Lansing area. Recently, he organized a Radical Something concert at 7 p.m. on Nov. 11 at The Loft, 414 E. Michigan Ave., in Lansing.

He said a lot of work and phone calls go into making that happen.
“Basically, you’ve got to call around,” Weinstein said. “They’re doing a national tour. I (have to) make sure they’re always somewhere. You don’t want them just sitting still. Sometimes you decide on a date, and then all of a sudden, they can’t make it in that amount of time, so you just have to deal with things like that.”

Throughout his work, he said the biggest challenge with starting his own company has been finding a balance.

“I’ve just kind of been doing school and working, and mostly, it’s just been time management,” Weinstein said. “Making sure I get everything in on time and that school is still my priority. It’s hard to stay focused on school when you would rather be focusing on your website or something like that.”

Weinstein’s mother, Patti Weinstein, said her son always has been very motivated.

“He’s a very passionate person,” Patti Weinstein said. “When he finds something he loves, he gives it his all. Whatever he does, he throws himself into it. I think when he finds something he loves, he wants to share it with people.”

Patti Weinstein said he was able to start his company all by himself.

“He’s really done all of this on his own with no help,” Patti Weinstein said. “I probably don’t know half of it because he just tells us about it, but he moves so fast with everything. How he got this all started was just amazing to us. The ball was already rolling by the time we even figured out what he was doing.”

Weinstein’s friend, human biology senior Mitch McCarty, said Weinstein’s success comes from his strong work ethic.

“He has a passion for advertising — that’s what his business does,” McCarty said. “He really enjoys it and likes to help artists he enjoys listening to get their names out there. That makes him more passionate about his business.”

Weinstein said when it comes to starting a new business, the most important thing is taking the risk.

“I don’t want to look back and wonder what would have happened if I had gone for it,” Weinstein said. “There’s a possibility you could fail, but there’s also a possibility for you to succeed.”
