Elementary education junior Lauren Frey joined People Respecting Individuality, Diversity and Equality, or PRIDE, during the 2011-12 academic year. She is a representative of PRIDE, which is the West Circle LBGTA caucus.
The State News: Why did you want to be a representative?
Lauren Frey: It is important to me to spread awareness about the group (and) let people know what we’re doing … and just gain support for people who need it.
SN: What goals do you have as a representative?
I just hope to get hopefully more awareness about what’s going on on campus. (Also RHA) is just a great way to collaborate with other groups.
SN: What do you want students to know about the caucus?
LF: (PRIDE is) absolutely open and welcoming to anyone that wants to come … There’s no judgement we learn a lot.
Frey can be reached at freylau1@msu.edu.
ASMSU Inter-Fraternity Council representative and communication junior Tony Biallas has held multiple positions in greek life is a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.
The State News: Why did you want to be a representative?
Tony Biallas: It’s really important to just to get involved (and) I think there are stereotypes about the greek community that are completely false … We do a lot of (positive) things on this campus.
SN: What are your goals?
TB: Making sure of the incorporation of greek life in the university. At other universities, greek life and the university and the fraternities and sororities are working together, so I definitely want to build that partnership up.
SN: What else do you want students to know?
TB: If you (are) in the community and you want something changed on this campus, don’t be shy … I’m one person representing over 3,000 in the greek community, I definitely want to hear from people.”
Biallas can be reached at tonybiallas@yahoo.com.

SN: What goals do you have as a representative?
LA: We want to make sure our members are informed about administrative and educational issues at MSU, especially as they relate to graduate students.
SN: What do you want students to know about the association?
LA: I want people to know that the BGSA is an active and productive organization that provides developmental activities and events for all students to enjoy.
