Dulcimer Fest in East Lansing

October 18, 2012

The third annual East Lansing Dulcimer Festival will come to East Lansing at 8 p.m. Friday.

The dulcimer is a stringed instrument that was developed in the 1800s. There are two main types: the hammered dulcimer and the Appalachian dulcimer.

The festival will kick off with a concert by Dan Landrum and Stephen Seifert, two of the nation’s most talented dulcimer players.

Saturday will feature workshops for aspiring dulcimer players.

The doors for the workshops open at 9:30 a.m. Registration is available throughout the day, but preregistration is recommended because of limited space.

Concert tickets cost $15 for the public and $5 for students and can be purchased at the door starting at 7 p.m. Friday. Workshop registration is $20, plus $10 for each additional workshop.

To register for the workshops, contact Wanda Degen at 517-377-2264.

Further information, including parking , itineraries and info about the workshops can be found on the East Lansing Dulcimer Festival’s Facebook page.
