It is almost the weekend. Classes are ending, and students are ready to unwind. Here is a roundup of events to attend during the weekend respite.
The Fight for Water
Local filmmaker Joshua Spencer will present his film “The Fight for Water” on Thursday at (SCENE) Metrospace, 110 Charles St.
The documentary focuses on an oil spill that took place in Santa Rosa, Ecuador in 2009 and the effects it has had on the area and its people.
Doors will open at 7 p.m., and the show will start at 7:30 p.m. This is a free event, but a donation of $3 is suggested.

Motown in Motion
The Eisenhower Dance Ensemble, a contemporary dance company, will visit East Lansing this weekend for the Motown in Motion event.
The show, which will include music and dancing, will take place at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Wharton Center’s Cobb Great Hall. Admission to this event is $8.

Home Town Rock Crown
Six bands will battle each other Saturday during the fourth week of the 97.5 Home Town Rock Crown event.
In this competition, musicians perform in the hopes of being named the winner of $1,000 in cash as well as other prizes, including the opportunity to shoot their own music video and perform a live segment and be on 97.5 Now FM.
This week’s competitors include Prince Ashitaka, Brandon Flood, The Clique, Floodgate, Catalina Wine Mixer and Stryve.

*Cirque du Soleil *
Cirque du Soleil’s “Quidam” will visit Breslin Center next week, and in anticipation of the performances, a bus tour will visit East Lansing on May 17-22.
The bus will make multiple stops throughout the city, and at each stop attendees will be able to participate in various activities in which they will have the chance to win show tickets and other prizes.
