Showtyme @ MSU
Enjoy a night of the many talents of MSU students and grab a bite while you’re at it. A regular talent show of MSU students put on by the University Activities Board — which partnered with the MLK Committee in celebration of the Martin Luther King Weekend — will take place at 8 p.m. Saturday at the International Center Food Court. A broad spectrum of talent will be featured — from singing to hula-hooping to glow-sticking.
The show is free.

Machine Gun Kelly
Visit The Loft, 414 E. Michigan Ave., in Lansing, to see bright young Ohio rapper Machine Gun Kelly. Before Machine Gun Kelley’s performance, warm up with hometown opening acts The Specktators, Green Skeem and Stryve.
Doors open at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets cost $18 in advance and $20 at the door.

A Michigan State University Showcase
With the start of the new year comes new things. The first new showcase of 2012 at the alternative art and performance space (SCENE) Metrospace, 110 Charles St., featuring MSU artists will open to the public Friday from 6-8 p.m. A Michigan State University Showcase will give students a closer look at some of the best artists of MSU. Provocative contemporary art from eight students will be on display. Works will vary from painting to installations to mixed media projects.

Jazz: Spirituals, Prayer & Protest
MSU student will get the chance to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend with a night of jazz, hosted by the MLK Committee. Jazz enthusiasts will have two opportunities to listen to tunes from the College of Music with shows at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Sunday at Wharton Center’s Pasant Theatre. Both concerts are free, but tickets — which can be picked up at the Wharton Center Box Office — are required for entry.

The Wanamaker Collection: A Tribute to Susan Applegate Krouse, 1955-2010
MSU students will be able to enjoy the work and celebrate the life of former faculty member and Director of MSU’s American Indian Studies Program Susan Applegate Krouse. At this exhibit, visitors will have the chance to explore a history of American Indians through photos, documents and more.
The collection will be open all weekend to the public at the MSU Museum’s Community Gallery.
