Arson accomplice sentenced

January 30, 2012

A man affiliated with the New Year’s Eve 1999 arson at Agriculture Hall was sentenced to six months in prison Friday in the U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids, officials said.

Jodi Simpson, a deputy clerk for the court, said Jesse Waters, 30, was given six months of custody, a year of supervised release following the prison time and a $5,000 fine at the sentencing.

Waters pleaded guilty to felony charges for concealing his role in the arson attempt at Agriculture Hall in U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids in Sept. 2011.

At the sentencing, Waters said he helped arsonists Marie Mason and Frank Ambrose dispose of clothing after the incident.
