In his first game with the Lansing Lugnuts, former MSU outfielder Eli Boike helped secure the Lugnuts’ 11-0 win over the Western Michigan Whitecaps Wednesday when he hit a two-run single to center field.
Through his first week with the Lugnuts, Boike has put up a .250 batting average in three games, hitting 3-for-12 from the plate. The former Spartan has added two RBIs and walked once while going without an error in the field.
Boike was promoted to the Lugnuts in the Class A Midwest League team last week from the Vancouver Canadians in the Class A short-season team from the Northwest League. His promotion came after he played in only seven games, with a .370 average for 27 at-bats.
The Lugnuts started their weekend series against the Lake County Captains Saturday, where the they battled for the 7-6 road win in Boike’s first day off since making his debut Wednesday.
