Recently-hired hockey head coach Tom Anastos announced his coaching staff Monday, retaining two coaches while adding two former MSU players.

Former players Kelly Miller and Mike Gilmore have been added to the staff, while Tom Newton and former player Adam Nightingale will remain on staff.

“I’m excited to have our staff in place so that we can really begin to move forward with all aspects of the program,” Anastos said in a release. “I believe that we have built a coaching staff that will identify and bring to Michigan State quality student-athletes, develop them into NHL-caliber talent, and prepare them for life after hockey.”

Miller and Newton will be full-time assistants. It will be Newton’s 22nd year with the Spartan hockey program.

Gilmore will be a volunteer assistant coach and will work with goaltenders, while Nightingale will continue his role as video coordinator.
