The premier of Warm the Heart Knit-a-Thon will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Perspective2, 319 E. Grand River Ave., in Lansing.
Guests can create winter caps, scarves, pot holders, dish clothes or any household item for families in need. Items will be donated to Child and Family Services of Lansing, and all skill levels of knitting are welcome to attend.
Knitters also are encouraged to help create a communal scarf that will be raffled off to a prize winner at 3:45 p.m. Door prizes, donated by Sticks and Strings of Old Town, will be given away.
Mid-Michigan Knitting Guild will provide technical help to participants as well as supplies and patterns for the creations.
The event is sponsored by Perspective2, the Peace Education Center of East Lansing and the Mid-Michigan Knitting Guild.
