East Lansing City Manager Ted Staton has named East Lansing Police Department deputy chief Juli Liebler the interim chief of the department, according to a statement.
The appointment comes after current East Lansing police Chief Tom Wibert accepted a job earlier this month in New Braunfels, Texas as chief of police. His last day with the East Lansing Police Department is Oct. 31.
Liebler will act as the department head until a new chief is named in March 2011. She is expected to begin on Nov. 1.
Staton will start the process of looking for a chief of police starting in December, the statement said.
