Student judiciary discusses COGS

March 31, 2010

A student judiciary board hearing involving two former student government officials was held Tuesday evening, although the meeting was closed to the public and its outcome will not be known until the end of the week.

The hearing occurred a year after a report leveling allegations against Manish Madan, former president of the Council of Graduate Students, or COGS, surfaced during a meeting to elect the group’s executive board.

Madan lost re-election during that meeting, and filed a complaint last fall against Paul Curran, the group’s former vice president for internal affairs, who produced the report. Madan said he was informed that a verdict from the hearing will be available at the end of the week.

Tuesday’s hearing followed one held in February for a complaint filed by Madan against the COGS executive board. Madan chose to walk out of the meeting after COGS submitted a response to his complaint because he said he was not prepared to respond.

Madan appealed and said he received an e-mail that his appeal was accepted. Another hearing will take place at an indeterminate time before April 15, Madan said.
