Classic musical to come to Wharton

“Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific” will be coming Tuesday Wharton Center on where it will run through
May 2.

The musical, set on a tropical island during World War II, recently won Best Director and Best Revival along with five other awards at the 2008 Tony Awards.

It includes songs such as “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair.”

It originally was based on “Tales of the South Pacific,” a Pulitzer Prize winning book by James Michener.

The show runs two hours and 45 minutes. The first show will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Cobb Great Hall.
