Women's hoops offers free tickets

December 2, 2009

The MSU women’s basketball team announced Wednesday that fans who show their MSU Federal Credit Union credit/debit card at the Breslin Center ticket office today will receive two free tickets to tonight’s 8:30 p.m. game between No. 22 MSU and No. 4 North Carolina.

The Spartans (4-2) enter tonight’s game fresh off two victories at the Junkanoo Jam this past weekend, posting a 78-47 rout of George Washington and double-overtime victory against Oklahoma State.

The Tar Heels (5-0) are coming off a 76-67 win against Charleston Southern.

Tonight’s game is part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, which the women began competing in two seasons ago. The Spartans have split their first two games in the challenge, beating Clemson 68-51 in 2007 before losing to Georgia Tech 70-57 last season.

MSU is 0-3 all-time against North Carolina, with two previous meetings coming in Chapel Hill, N.C. and one on a neutral floor. North Carolina won the last meeting 82-65 Dec. 19, 1999.
