Tropp receives weekly honor

October 26, 2009

Corey Tropp, a junior forward on the MSU hockey team, was named CCHA Offensive Player of the Week, the Big Ten announced.

Tropp led the Spartans with a goal and two assists this weekend, as the Spartans split with No. 1 Miami (Ohio).

The junior assisted on MSU’s only goal Friday, then had a goal and an assist in Saturday’s 3-2 overtime win.

The honor is Tropp’s first of his career.

Tropp leads the nation with 12 points, and leads the CCHA in goals (six), assists (six) and power play goals.

The Spartans moved into the USCHO poll at No. 20 and have a home-and-home series against Western Michigan this weekend.
