Purdue starter suspended 2 games

October 18, 2009

Purdue guard Lewis Jackson has been suspended by the team for two games and the NCAA for one game to start the season.

The sophomore was suspended for violating team and NCAA rules after he plead guilty earlier this year to charges of illegal alcohol consumption and possession of drug paraphernalia, The Associated Press reported last week.

He was told to complete community service and serve a year under court supervision.

Jackson started 30 games last season and averaged a team-high 3.3 assists per game. He will sit out for Purdue’s two exhibition games and the season-opening Nov. 20 game against South Dakota State.
