The MSU baseball team announced that seven players have signed National Letters of Intent, giving the Spartans 14 student-athletes in their recruiting class.
Dane Frazier (Mattawan), Bryce Jenney (Northville), John Martinez (Auburn Hills), Chad Nielsen (Ann Arbor), Trey Popp (Kalamazoo), Chase Rihtarchik (Rochester Hills) and Joe Zwierzynski (Crystal Lake, Ill.) join seven other players who were announced in November 2008. Of the 14 players, 12 are from Michigan.
Martinez, out of Warren De La Salle, is a versatile player capable of catching and playing outfield and infield who was named an EA Sports Baseball Second Team All-American in 2009. Rihtarchick, out of Birmingham Brother Rice High School, led the Warriors to a state championship as a junior in 2008 and was named by ESPN Rise as an All-Area Top Pitcher this past season.
