Police bust down Virginia Avenue door to check on condition of eldery woman
Police cars and fire trucks crowded Virginia Avenue on Tuesday evening as officers attempted to break down the door of a home following concerns about the welfare of an elderly woman, who later was described as “OK.”
A UPS driver contacted police after noticing packages piling up at the home, East Lansing police Lt. Bill Mitchell said. Police went to the home to check on the woman after speaking to neighbors who said the woman had not been seen recently.
The woman was found unharmed inside the home, but investigators remained on the scene to clear health and code violations that were of concern, Mitchell said.
