Book pile burned outside of Owen Hall

Police were dispatched to the volleyball courts on the north side of the building after a 34-year-old man smelled something burning, she said. When police arrived, they found a pile of books about 2- to 3-feet tall burning inside a grill. The fire, which was started between about 6:47 p.m. and 7:25 p.m., spilled over the side of the grill onto the lawn, she said.
The East Lansing Fire Department extinguished the fire. There are no suspects and the incident is under investigation.
