Moody earns national honors

April 8, 2009

After throwing the MSU baseball team’s first no-hitter in more than 16 years Saturday, MSU senior pitcher Nolan Moody was named Pro-Line Athletic Pitcher of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. He was also named to the Collegiate Baseball newspaper’s Louisville Slugger National Players of the Week list and the College Baseball Foundation’s National All-Star Lineup.

Moody’s no-hitter, a 2-0 win thrown in the first game at McLane Stadium, was the first since Dan Garman’s on March 28, 1993. It was also the first in the Big Ten since 2006. Moody has a 2.94 ERA this season in seven appearances with a 4-3 record.

Earlier this week, Moody was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week.
